Road closures for Mid-Autumn celebrations

To celebrate the annual Mid-Autumn Festival, the Kreta Ayer-Kim Seng CCC has organised an official light-up and opening ceremony on Sunday (Aug 24), and a mass lantern walk the following week on Saturday (Sep 6). The expected number of spectators for the events is about 20,000 and 8,000, respectively, the police said.

To ease the moderate to heavy traffic disruption expected, police said in a statement on Friday that a total of 13 lanes and roads will be closed to vehicular traffic, while Mosque Street will become a two-way road to allow access to and exit from South Bridge Road.

Access to the roads and lanes during their closure will only be granted to police and emergency vehicles, the police said, adding that vehicles found parking indiscriminately and causing obstruction will be towed away.
