Why is Lee Kuan Yew's Wish For A Quick Death Not Respected By His Doctors?
Look at last year's NDP parade and you can see the state in which Lee Kuan Yew is in
He is frail and unable to walk on his own and basic tasks like standing and sitting down is a problem

A couple of days back, the Prime Minister's Office announced that our founding father Lee Kuan Yew was hospitalized in SGH for severe pneumonia since 5 February. They revealed that he was lightly sedated, on mechanical ventilation and warded in the the Intensive Care Unit (ICU).

But in a 2013 interview, Lee Kuan Yew mentioned that he feels weaker by the day and wants a quick death.

To accomplish this, Lee Kuan Yew had an Advanced Medical Directive (AMD) done which specifies that if he had to be fed by a tube, and if it is unlikely that he would ever be able to recover and walk about, his doctors are to remove the tube and allow him to make a quick exit.

SOME WEIRD OBSERVATIONS ABOUT THE ANNOUNCEMENT THAT LKY WAS HOSPITALISED
It seems that his family were waiting for Senior Lee to get into a Stable condition before announcing the news

Today, it was announced that Former Prime Minister Lee Kuan Yew was warded in the Intensive Care Unit at Singapore General Hospital.

What is odd, however, is that the news was only announced today because according to a press statement from the Prime Minister's Office, he had been in hospital since Feb 5th with severe Pneumonia.

Mr Lee is quite an influential figure as he is regarded by many as the "founding father" of Singapore. It is interesting that the news of his hospitalization was withheld for over 2 weeks.

Deliveryman Ong Eng Hue, a Teck Ghee resident, turned up for the ward's annual Chinese New Year dinner last night hoping to catch a glimpse of Prime Minister Lee Hsien Loong.

He was slightly disappointed that PM Lee, who went through surgery for prostate cancer a few days ago, could not attend the event as he was recuperating at home.

But when Mr Ong, 56, heard that PM Lee's father, former prime minister Lee Kuan Yew, was hospitalised for severe pneumonia, and had been warded for two weeks, he was shocked. His wife, Madam Zhong Liyu, 47, cupped her hands over her mouth.

Lee Kuan Yew says he wants a quick death

Singapore's founding father Lee Kuan Yew, who will turn 90 next month, said in a new book published Tuesday that he feels weaker by the day and wants a quick death.
"Some time back, I had an Advanced Medical Directive (AMD) done which says that if I have to be fed by a tube, and it is unlikely that I would ever be able to recover and walk about, my doctors are to remove the tube and allow me to make a quick exit," he wrote in the book "One Man's View of the World".
The book is dedicated to the Asian statesman's views on international affairs but an entire chapter contains his musings on death, religion and other personal issues. The 400-page work is dedicated to his late wife Kwa Geok Choo, whose death in 2010 shattered the normally stoic veteran politician.
